there is no fuel pressure guage in the car

you need an external guage to be able to read it. It screws into the schreider valve on the fuel railv

You might have a vapor lock problem. When you open the gas cap does air escape and make a noise? Maybe you could try taking the cap off for a short time to see if it makes a difference and if it does pick up a new cap at Wal Mart or something that allows the gas tank to breathe. New caps aren't too expensive. I'm not sure but just a suggestion.

The gas cap doesn't make a sound when removed but i was thinking that it could possibly be the problem too. It is kind of warped at one side of it. Could this possibly still be the problem ?

Before we get too far off track or what it could be, do as Haro said and put a fuel pressure tester on the fuel rail, and let us know the numbers.

Default Poor Starting

I had a similar problem that I fought for quite a while and I just lived with it.

What it turned out to be was a bad battery. When I would first start the car, the battery voltage would drop until the alternator took over and then the car would run fine.

Hard to believe, but true.

Did it start right away when you
jumped it ? Because i've jumped it
a few times becuase the battery is
very old and it still does the same thing.
It Took my mom 213 trying to start it one time !

Try swapping batteries with another car. Sometimes batteries are so weak that even jumping won't help. Also remove the rubber boots from the battery cables & clean off all the corrosion.

Could this have been caused by spark plugs hooked up wrong ?
