18PSI of oil pressure and E-BRAKE light..EVERYONE was wrong!
Can you arrange with the seller to allow you to take the car to a shop and have the oil pressure tested with a mechanical gauge and the sale would be pending on the results of the test? If the test is good pressure you will buy the car and pay the shop bill, if it is low pressure you walk and the owner pays the shop bill. Or however you want to work it out, but you get the picture.
By the way, the brake light sure sounds like low fluid. Are you sure the level is high enough in the reservoir?
Overfilled oil or leaky v-covers will not cause low oil pressure.
That is a lot of miles though. The car is going to have problems if everything is original. Just make sure you know what you’re getting into, it WILL have problems.

I'm offering $2500, in the event I have to spend $1000 to put a new (60k) motor in it. If they dont want to take that much, I'm going to keep shopping

I was planning on bringing the car to a shop nearby the dealer and have the oil pressure tested when the engine is hot....a compresion test would probably be useful as well....I'll see what it would cost to have a shop look at it, to see if the gauge is wack or if the oil pressure is indeed low. maybe investing in a $16 oil change at walmart would not be a bad idea either prior to making an offer..
Hans..this is the same car as the Gen chat thread?
BTW Hans... I believe once people see the oil pressure issue, they'll change their minds

Looks like a decent deal for a very good year of Bonneville.
As long as those Taylor wires were not abused they should be fine. I'm still running with mine since I swapped in 03. They are better than stock but you can do better if you want.
Hurry up and buy it before someone else does.
