Just a few simple questions, do I need to purchase a gasket(*) to change the T-stat. If so which major auto parts stores carry them and how much do they cost. I purchased a 180 stat from auto zone tonight and didnt even think about gaskets
I wanna make sure I got what I need before I change it. Last summer my t-stat went in my cutlass and that damn thing was always around 230-240 so I want to do this mod before the hot summer gets here. Among the many things Ive changed on cars, I have yet to do a thermostat.
thanks
thanks
i just purchased mine yesterday with the round rubber gasket and gallon of anti freeze. i have the silicone but it the a gasket for the houseing as well? the gasket im talking about it the gasket that matches the shape of the housing'* surroundings
That'* correct. You need them both. The paper gasket isn't supposed to need any other sealant, but I always put a SMALL bead of silicon gasket sealer (hi-temp) on both aluminum surfaces first. My aluminum LIM and Gooseneck have mild pitting from age.
