Default TV cable and TB position ARGH!

okay.. so I finally decided to get off my *** and adjust my TV see how out it was... it appeared to be WAY out... I figure .. hey it'* an 86 probably the first time in a LONG time this was ever done... less see what it does...

get out on the road and WOW total wake up .. cars actually shifting down into 1st below like 45mph.. .. but it seems to be staying in gear too long.. wants to rev right out and not shift... hmmmm .. back home.. take a look at the book again and the cables.. try it out again.. this time taking off my intake tube to see where it'* going "click"... guess what.. NO WHERE NEAR WOT ... and "by the book" the TB ends up only being able to open less then a 3rd of WOT .. so maybe vac mod is seeing too much vacum and not hitting the next gear @ set point .. yet engine is trying to bounce off limiter... it'* an old engine that needs some TLC>. that'* not cool!

okay .. monkey around abit with "manualy" adjusting it... which bothers me cause I'm not suspposed to be able to do that..... I find a sort of happy medium between getting full down shifts and WOT TB travel... but I know that this is ALL WRONG I shouldn't be able to nor have to "manually" adjust the slider and everything on the TV cable... and using the factory adjust.. the TB should be able to go WOT...

so... what'* messed up?... I'm kinda thinking I might need a whole new cable/adjuster .. anyone heard of/had to deal with this?

it'* a GM goodwrench updated replacement trans with 80 ish thousand miles on it

any advice is welcome.. I MIGHT MIGHT be selling the car to a friend in a month or so and I don't want it all messed up IF he buys it (it'* a low % IF... but still an IF)

Default

ended up going to visit the local GM dealership and talked to their Transmission specialist... seems this is common in cars as old as mine... and I'm doing exactly what they do in the dealership ... move a bit.. drive... move again.. until you find happy medium .... he said I could buy a new cable and adjuster.. but it'* not needed. and this way I get the shift characteristics I want (well as close as I can with the small adjustments I'm allowed )
