I put some brake cleaner through the used lines and the cooler. All the stuff sat in the garage for more than a week, so there was plenty of time for everything to dry out.
After a short test drive, I touched both lines going to the new cooler and they were both warm, so that was a good sign that fluid was flowing as it should.
