Default tranny swap

Hey guys, long story short I dummied the tranny in my 89 Bonne SE. Shifting from 1-2 at WOT is incredibly rough, shifting from 2-3 is brutal at as well. Gonna cost me $1900 CAD to get it repaired, which isnt worth it in my opinion. However Ive sourced out a 4T60 from the local highschool from a 1990 Delta 88.

Few questions here, the 4T60 and 440-T4 are the same, are they not? Just different names.. How can I verify that the 4T60 out of the 88 isnt the electronically controlled one, and if it just so happens that it is, how much more to the swap will I need in order for it to work?

Thanks guys

440-T4 and 4T60 are the same thing. I believe they switched to an electronic tranny in 91 when olds went */C.

Check the RPO list on the spare tire cover in the trunk. The ratio code wil be on there. Theres a list in techinfo I believe.
