I just picked up an 88 boneville SE and drove it back from texas. she ran fine then 2 days ago the day after i got back she started dieing and smoking real bad. Head gasket is fine, just replaced, air filter, plugs, and wires, pcv valve, fuel injection cleaning, and changed computer chip for fuel injection system, I also changed the IAC valve. please help running out of ideas. dh2

p.* it is white smoke vary strong smell after changing chip it went away for about 12 miles then started again.

The smoke is coming from the exhaust. It smells like normal exhaust just the white smoke is bad. I marked the fluid levels for my coolant and my oil looks and smells normal, I can't find a vacum leak.

Yes I do i am just running our of ideas I was thinking that I would change the ERG valve and have the new chip tested because that fixed the problem but only for a bit ran great when i did that. The car is running way to rich.

Update the car stops smoking and the idle smooths out when the engine reaches about 150 degrees

White smoke is almost always coolant. Not sure if the Series 1 is affected like the Series 2, but if you're sure the head gaskets are fine, take a look at your lower intake manifold gaskets.

I checked the chio i replaced and it was bad the feul injection was never turning off and was flooding the engine. I got a new chip from a differnt company and so far so good seems to run like a new car. Hope this is it so I can start on other things
