If the doors do not light upon startup, you probably do not have the option for the doors. On my 89 SE, it used to say "Driver Information." I think that'* the more advanced display with the doors and everything else.

I just find it odd that it has a spot for the doors to display as open, why incorporate an option if they're not going to use it right?

according to my books here.... the Systems Monitor came standard on the LE/SE which would only tell you the basic idiot lights. the Drivers information could be had on LE/SE for $275.00 IF you custom ordered your car. the Drivers Information was coupled with the "Light Monitor" which was found at the very left of the IP... this upgraded package could be put with a floor shifter for $355.00 on SE. offered in 87' was a IP on the SE model only (top end that year) was a Drivers Information Center and Compass Package if you had a Floor shifter for a additional fee not listed in my book. Hmmm i've never see this.....? must be SUPER RARE...
