Ok... I know this question should probably be in the "Performance Section" but I was wondering what the sensor is in the stock airbox. Is it a temp sensor for the MAF? I am thinking about putting my K&N filter from my Mustang on the SSE. I already have a home constructed intake tube that would locate it further away from the engine. I know from experience that it hurts to suck in hot air with a cone filter located near the engine.

Any advice on this would be appreciated.

It'* the IAT. Intake Air Temperature sensor. Your car will lose a ton of performance if it'* not firmly implanted into the pipe or filter.

And locating the filter as far away from the engine won't do any good whatsoever. Engine bay temps are extremely high with the hood closed. You need a heat shield to force it to draw cold air from the outside.
