Yes, there are freeze plugs on the heads, both sides IIRC. If not, at least one on each. I'm pretty sure there is one right by that hole. The only thing that makes sense for that hole is a cracked block, causing oil pressure to leak out. Do you have any clue as to how much oil you lose out that hole? Or perhaps you have an oil pressure gauge and how much oil pressure you have?

I can try, we have a digital camera but trying to get hubby to put the picture on the computer will be a pain. I will try. Oh by the way hubby doesn't know how to fix cars. My stepbrother is the one looking at this one. He has a 3800 in his olds so he is familiar with the engine a little. Wait to you all see all the fluids all over my engine. We are going to put a degreaser on it and take it to the car wash after we fix the leaks. I have a steering leak also but we will fix that later. I was told it was leaking from the rack and the return hose. I just really want to thank all of you for taking time to answer my stupid questions. I have met some great people who have offered such great help for a girl who knows nothing, well now I know a little thanks to you. I am not afraid to get dirty, taking care of my car

There'* nothing behind the hole. It looks directly into the tailshaft / cover area and those parts have their own seals. Nothing should be spraying fluids out of that hole. Do you also have oil on the area above the hole? ( I know mine does. )

Marty is on the right track here. That hole shouldn't be leaking any fluids. However, I ran into the issue where the car would leak oil about 1qt/3k mi. It turns out it came from the intake seals, which built oil up around that area. Towards the end of the car'* runnings before gasket replacement, it increased significantly. Somewhere around 1qt/1k mi. It'* caused by warped intake seals, and with higher RPMs the oil splashes around thus causing oil to be pushed out those seals.

Have you seen the car leaking?

Good to see your reply. well hum the dam car leaks from every where. Let me give you example. I went to the doctor today about 5 miles from my house. I know I shouldn't' have drove the car but had no other options. So before I left, I had to fill up the trans fluid it was completly empty, the car has sat for a week due to gas leak,(got gas leak fixed) so when I get out of the doctors I notice one hell of a puddle under my car. So as far as I know it leaks power steering fluid, transmission, possible coolant and the oil is going some where also(not as bad as the other leaks) I think I may put one pint of oil in a month. By the way the oil is dark dirt black. As far as the hole we just wanted to make sure nothing was sapose to go there. I tell ya when the girl sold it to me she had a dad that fixed cars. I should have known when she said the "sevice engine light" was on but they couldn't figure out why. So basically we are trying to get this car running for the least amount of money. I will tell you though on the way to the doctor before the car warmed up it ran like a dream, it reminded me of when I first got it. Nice smooth ride, then it warmed up and became the cugcug mobile. When I drive I try to let it coast as much as possilbe becasue everytime I put my foot on the gas it seems like the engine is under stress. Sorry to vent the answer to "Have I seen the car leaking?" No not yet. It is so gumed up in there I bet we would have to clean it up a bit to determine where the leak is comming from. Thanks guys
