ok--yeah--it's controlled by a left-right switch.
I'll unplug it and go from there. W/my luck it's a fried motor! :shake:

Ok folks, just like my car, you have 12 switches for the controls, and a L/R selector. If everything works on both seats, EXCEPT the recline/decline on the driver's, it CANNOT be the switch pod. It has to be the motor, or a broken wire between the pod and driver's seat. Probe the power wire to the motor.......then have someone hit the switch. Bet you have power, and nowhere for it to go! The motor should be the same as the 92 and up, and the Rat can verify that for you.

This was an interesting thread. I didn't know the older gen bonnies had the same seat control optoins! Cool :!: :D

I saw an 88 SSE in the j/y a few months back--it had controls in the console--but there were also some kind of switches on the lower seat bottoms too. Wonder what they were for?
Does anyone know how much one of these motors costs?

willwren Oct 1, 2002 12:36 AM

Try to get the 8-digit part number off of it, and run it through www.gmpartsdirect.com, then call the junkyard and compare. I've NEVER had to replace one on one of my cars, but I'm sure somebody around here has. gmpartsdirect will save you about 40% of the dealer's price.

You were right about the motor.....feels good to be right sometimes, eh? I get it so rarely I have to savor it when I finally nail one.

Tonyrodz Oct 1, 2002 12:37 AM

Didn't know SSE's could have that option!

Tonyrodz Oct 1, 2002 12:44 AM

Bet it was the newer ones--not my style.

I was talking about the pn of the motor....I didn't think heated seats were an option until 96 or 97. Boseman350 just did an upgrade kit, though. Do a search on the forum. Pretty cool setup, I'll be doing it to my 93 SSEi before winter.

Tonyrodz Oct 1, 2002 12:48 AM

Cool--get to heat the buns in winter eh?

willwren Oct 1, 2002 12:55 AM

It was NOT an option on the 92-94, any trim level including leather. I can confirm that for sure....stack of bibles, stick a needle and all that crap. Other years? I dunno.

Ok, here's the good stuff. Check out this link:

http://www.grandprixstore.com/ and check out the heated seat kit, then read this thread:
