Watch the timing belt! Has it been replaced yet along with the water pump? How many miles are on it?

why does cadillac always want a cheap ugly car. (no offence ) lol but that and the new cts are just the poor mans caddi. shoulda atleast bought a 93-94 siville. and cadilracs need to be BIG v8 and FWD like the 74 501 lol. great car took 2 miles to get to top speed and 12mile to slow down from top speed.

My dad has a 1999 Catera, with about 80,000km on it. Aside from some original logic glitches (headlights would stay on, car would randomly stall while driving...even on the highway), my dad really loves that car. Got some pep for such a heavy car, and about the same on gas as the 88 SSE. Great highway car, comfortable, excellent value for the money. Personally, I like the drivability and interior of the car much more than the exterior but I guess cant be too picky. Few mechanical problems so far - very reliable.

well boys....that didnt last long, dad was driving the car the other day when he noticed that it always hauled to the right. , since he bought it at a-1 auctions for 12,900 he figured he needed an alignment. he got that done. everything was good.

Turns out the car was in an accident that bent the front crossbeam.so the car is not lined up at all. Dad took the car down to moncton and put stop payment on his cheque. So now im stuck without a car as my bonneville is in my name and I have to put the insurance in one lump some. which sucks .

On the other hand. im not paying for a lemon anymore, note to everyone out there, When buying from an auction, when something seems like a steal , maybe they be steallin from you!.

Speaking of the alignment - The early Cateras had a wicked sport-tuned alignment which caused the car to go through tires like water.
