This is starting to happen more and more frequently. The key gets stuck somewhere between on and lock. If i play with in the key will come out, but the ignition won't turn at all. After playing with it for a while it gets unstuck, but I don't want this to happen in a really bad place (like at work at 10PM in the dead of winter). What do I have to do to fix it?

Consider yourself lucky. all you have to mess with is the horn'* wire! Good luck!!

Whoa!...Everyone put down the steering wheel pullers. (for a couple minutes at least)

Head over to the parts store or hardware store.. look for dry graphite powder used in lock cylinders and ignitions to lubricate them.

Spray a bit in there..move the key in and out..spray (it'* like dust) some on the key..keep going. Then turn the cylinder back and forth. Work the lubricant in and you may be impressed.

LisSis got the key totally stuck on my other car last winter..graphite powder saved the day for at least 6 months or so..I also had an old truck..same there.. had it for years after.

I remember this happened to me before, but I don't quite remember where exactly this happened.

Try playing with the shifter, perhaps going from park to drive and back again a few times. I think there'* something wrong within my shifter mechanism, causing you to not be able to set the ignition to lock (it'* only happened once though). This is desirable when the car is in drive, such that you don't have any key-off steering lock accidents while the car is in motion. But if the car THINKS you're in drive when you're really not... well, problem there.

repin is right... that'* what i did when my lock cyl failed. i never put the car in park [key never worked] and it would never allow the cyl to 'lock' so i could start the car w/o a key. if you can't get it to lock, that'* the probelm [turning ign off], if you can't get it to turn it'* because something is seized. if someone would have suggested i use some graphite spray maybe i wouldn't of had to go through the trouble of replacing mine! chaning it out is simple as pie, just need a steering wheel puller, and another type of puller i forget it'* name but autozone had both in their loaner tool program.

The graphite is a great thing. It'* what locksmiths use.
