Default Keyless entry for a 90 SSE

I'm just curious if the 90 SSE came with a remote keyless entry... I don't see any antena'* for it anywhere, but I'm thinking for the 'security' system...

I'm asking this because I had to get a locksmith to pick my lock to cut me a set of door keys, and when I was reinstalling the passenger side door lock, I didn't realize that I had locked the door with the key, so I closed the door, and went to the drivers side door, opened it, and BEEP BEEP BEEP!! Scared the crap out of me.. lol...

Oh, and is there any shortcuts to get the ingnition barrel out of the column without opening the whole column? I bought a new ignition barrel for it today too, and don't want the whole headache of a wheel puller and all that.......

The only way to swap the ignition cylinder is to remove the steering wheel (requires special puller) and to remove the wheel lock ring (another special tool) and then the cylinder comes out with one bolt. It'* an annoying job. But try replacing the turn signal switch and it seems like cake lol.

the 1990 sse was the first year keyless entry was available as an option, look on your spare tire cover for a sticker with a bunch of 3 digit codes look for AU0 if this code is there than your car is equipped with keyless entry.

the reason you dont see any antennas is because the module has one built into it behind the dash, above the glove compartment just to the left of the SSE Bonneville emblem.

now the modules in these cars go bad after a while, ive had to replace mine with one from a low mileage junker. to see if it works you need to get a remote with a fcc id of abo0104t on the back of it then follow the directions in the techinfo here: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/techinfo/?article=55

The tech info was how I fixed mine- and worked great ever since. Now I just need to program the second one.
An I remember the first time I set off my alarm...jumped about six feet in the air.

Default remote

yes I believe it was standard.
Just get a remote off Ebay or somewhere with the correct FCC ID.
Then program to your car.

It was definitly standard on the SSE'*- Thats what my GM literature says anyway. I have the whole product line info for 90, 92 (lots of info and promo material for those BC members with the 92 SSEi. Really good write ups. The improvements that were made for the 90 SSE'*, SE'* and LE'* is also quite impressive. Keyless entry was one- and a stiffer structure, thicker steel and more welds was another.

Sweet, then I should be able to order one from GM, and program it to my car... glad to hear that... I'm trying to get all the little toys for the car together and working... I think this car might have to return to her former glory, almost pure stock...

just to let you know, its over $80 from the dealer. and 75% chance that your keyless entry module is dead... find a remote on ebay or such first
