Default Insurance value of a 1989 Bonnie?

Anyone know a ball park number or have any experience with what the insurance company will give me for my Bonnie? It was in excellent condition and just turn the 100k mark.

Oh and I have about $1200 worth of receipts from the past year

There is no chance in hell any crooked *** insurance company will give you book value. They are more crooked then lawyers IMO, the can never appreciate that an owners level of car value is so much higher then that of any phoney baloney appraiser

When I wrecked my '89 Olds last year, it was totalled because it had $1800 worth of damage. It was in pretty good shape and had 190K miles on it. They ended up giving me $1400 for it. I considered it fair, because I was hoping to get $1750 if I sold it outright.

As far as receipts, dont count on anything there. Its an older car and it is expected to require maintenance. If you didn't get the work done, the car would be considered poor condition and you wouldn't get any money for it.

Is there any type of insurance that we can get to protect our investments?

What about classic cars? I know your car becomes a classic when it turns (15?)
Can you get special insurance on it then to basically cover your butt for all the money you soak into it?

Theres classic insurance, I (and my dad) probably dropped 16k into my 69 c/10 and the insurance was very cheap, but then I found out if I wrecked it id only get 500cdn... So i got it apreassed and classic car insurance. Although I cant drive it every day (which i wouldnt anyway) I think i can only put 3.5k kms a year

Most Classic Car Insurance won't cover your car until it is 25 years old. And IF you're car is considered a Classic, you can only drive it about 2,500 miles per year. That'* why most of the Real Deal Classics are trailered to the shows they're in.

So going by this...my car had almost half the miles and as you can see from the 3rd picture was in excellent condition. I should be able to get somewhere in the 2'* right? I bought it for $2800 with 58k miles on it. So I would love to get close to that.

You can always try. You were hit by someone else, right? Shouldn't their insurance company be the one to foot the bill? If that is the case, you will probably get a little bit better deal from the other company than you would from your own.

A long time ago, I got hit in my '80 Monte Carlo. The car was totalled, but the other insurance company seemed to bend over backward to make it right for me. I ended up getting almost twice book value for it. They were probably afraid of me suing them, I guess.

Good luck!
