Howdy fellow Bonne Owners, glad to have joined!! Got a few questions, anyone ever changed an ignition switch console shift, w/ tilt steer in an 89 Bonne SE 3.8 *cough* 3800. One day went to start my car and i couldnt turn the key, and the steering column is loose, Is this serious?? or a simple "user fixable" problem, plz inform!

If you have a steering wheel remover and you dont have an air bag its easy as hell... I did it on my 93SE and it was not to bad and it had SIR. All you have to do on yours is take off your steering wheel then a few other things after that held down by snap rings. Just remember how the things go back in . As soon as you get to the tumbler or as you call it ignition.... doscnnect the wires and pull it out. Slide the new one in and put everything back together.
It might take you a while maybe an hour or two becuase this may be your first time doing something like this but it is time well spent.

hey man thanks alot, ive fixed numerous other things myself(saves a bunch of money) but, where could i get a steeringwheel remover? is this sumthing i could pick up at the local partsstore? oh BTW no airbag, and the horn butons are also on the steering wheel, they havnt worked for about a month, i took the cover off, and theres a plastic plug thats broken, i may fix that too 2birdsw/1stone thanks again for the help.

Yeah a steering wheel remover can be picked up at any parts store. I got mine for 20 bucks so you can see they are a cheap item. Its well worth it. If you take it somewhere they will rip the steering collum out of your car and charge you by the hour to do it. you can do it without taking apart the whole thing they just do that for the $$.
The only thing i didnt like about the new key and ignition was that my key is gold now

i love it i dont kno whatd i do w/o it sounds like its an easier fix than i thought, shows how much i kno you guys really know ur stuff :P if u havnt noticed im only 18 and already a penny pincher, but i like doin the stuff myself so that i can put my money into real upgrades instead of fixings.
