Default How to remove door trim piece....(now w/ pic)

Hey all,

Got a little problem w/ the trim piece that goes thru the middle of my drivers door.
The plastic piece that the screw, screws into has broken.

The piece slides back & fourth very easily now.... :(
But I can't figure out how to take it off to inspect how bad the damage is.
I tried pulling it off, but I don't want to break it more... I'm wondering if there isn't another screw somewhere, or if I have to pull it a certain way.

Anyone know for sure?

You can see the hole were the screw is suppose to be.

You can see the molding it coming away from the door w/o that screw to hold it in.

The plastic trim piece that broke (what the screw goes into) will slide around now, but won't come out. It slides around 1.5inchs towards the front of the car, but only about 1/4 of an inch back towards the rear.

That is the piece I would like to remove inorder to try to fix it.

Default trim piece

Is there any kind of hole left in the molding?
If so go to Home Depot or Lowes and pick up one of those picture hanging screws that expand in the back as they are tightened.
I've put spoilers on with these things and they work good.
There is all different varieties and types. Pick the right length that you think will work.

No there'* nothing left.... I tried to snap a shot of what'* left, but it'* too hard w/o removing the trim piece.

If I remove the trim piece I'm pretty sure I can fix it.

I believe it would only be the same piece if it was an SSE.

But even if it isn't... take it off it you can and let me know how it came off.

On your car that trim piece is held on with some little black clips that are clipped onto the door. It is basically just snapped onto it and that screw is there to stop it form sliding. you can actually pull the trim towards you to unsnap it. Just be carfull that you don't bend the trim and you may end up breaking at least one of those black clips. I have had to change a few of them on mine and anytime I find more at the wrecking yard I grab them.

Once that trim is off you will see these black clips and they are holding the actual groundfx on, on top of little clips at teh bottom of the door.

Once you get that trim piece off and you inspect those little black clipsyou can simple use some blck silicone type adhesive to hold that end on, since the clips do the holding and the screw stops it from sliding. I don't have the car here so I can't really show you with any pics.

Hope that helped.
