Question Hood won't open - how to adjust stretched cable?

I checked the other hood latch threads, and they seem to be about broken cables, stuck latches, or just getting the hood open. I think my problem is a stretched hood release cable.

Over a number of months, my hood gradually took more cycles to open by alternating a pull of the release handle with sitting down hard on the front of the hood. That trick stopped working two weeks ago.

How do I adjust it so that the stretched length is compensated? If there is no factory adjustment, what can I do to avoid buying and installing a cable?

Thanks in advance,
Jim

Pull the cable under the hood further away from the latch and try to zip tie it. That will create more leverage. Simple solution till you get a new one but a new cable will be a better fix.

It may not be your cable. My hood was hard to open as well, had to pull the handle and then yank up on the hood, sometimes had to wiggle it to get it to open. What I did was adjust the posts on each front corner down a little. Remove the rubber cap, then use a pliers to turn it down one turn. Then try it. This may be all it takes.

Absolutely right on the adjustment and how to. Had to adjust mine too, was flapping around on the left at speed. There is also adj in the latch and the need to spray the cable inside and at the hood and keep wrocking it till it moves freely. Spray anything that moves or pivots.
