Default Help!!

I went to the garage this morning with my 89 sse, the guy said the master cylinder was done...he said it would cost 2,700 dollars for a new one..If this is true is there ANYTHING that i could do to get one for a lot cheaper ..Ive called the scrapyards and they said if it has abs (which is does) its not possible to transfer onto my car because its a big job...Is there anything i can do with the one i have like rebuild it or what not.. I really cant afford 2,700 bucks..and i dont want to sell the car unless i have to:(...

Sounds like crazy thing. If we are speaking about brake master cylinder I have bought and replaced one on my car. I've got rebuilt one for $130 and labor costed 50$. HERE IN RUSSIA. Our prices for spares are US price x 3. New one here is $350. $2700 is A PRICE FOR WHOLE BONNEVILLE 89-91. I should suggest to perform more deep search...

Those 87-90 ABS units with the pressure reservoir are expensive, as I recall. Try car-parts.com (don't forget the hyphen) for a used one, or GMpartsdirect.com for an as-cheap-as-possible new one.

Could you bolt a regular one to the booster and then just disable ABS?

I assume that all the mounting hardware is the same it just has the ABS equipment attached. I would try that as a last resort and just remember you don't have ABS anymore and need to pump the brakes.

If that'* the one I'm thinking of, the unit under the hood attached to the firewall with the little pressurized ball? Than I just replaced mine last month. I got a used one WITH ABS from a wreckers then had it installed all for about $325 or so. Hope this helps.

Dont tell anyone but ill give you the one out of my brothers car for 2200 .... Hey youll be saving 500 bucks...lol

Anyways the idiot that told you ya cant take one out of another car is a fuc^ing idiot, I couldnt count the # of times ive seen this done on a bonne with every ependige on me. Its rediculas, go back there and kuss that guy out for giving you a false answer to get your $$.

Goto a junkyard and find a Bonne with this abs system in it and rip it out and plop it in its not a really big chore if you know a little about brake systems.

Good luck and god speed!?!
