This just started a little while ago. It used to do it for a couple times and then stop, but now it'* the other way around. I have to turn the lights on manually through the switch. Sometimes it will switch on after a while and the function will work and turn the lights on when shifted out of park and turn them off when shifted into park.
Is there a switch or something that is in the center counsole that triggers it? Is the light sensor not sensing that it is dark enough? Any information would be helpful. Thank you.

That'* odd. Mine come on automatically as soon as it is dark outside, doesn't matter if it is in park or drive, or even started, as long as the key is on, the headlights turn on ( when it is dark)

It does not work when I switch the TS switch either. The TS switch does not have to be on for it to work in my car. It has worked in the past without the switch being in the on position.
I havent really checked anything yet. When it does work I can hear it "click" on when I put it into drive, but now it does not "click" when I do it. When I am driving sometimes I hear it "click" on.
Is there a way to check and see if it is the light sensor? Is there a switch on the gear lever that switches it on that I could check too?

My twilight sentinel switch (from what I gather from the information my dad'* told me) is stuffed, apparently it got really really hot and gets really really hot so long as it'* installed. A junkyard hunt for a replacement yielded the surprise: All potential donor SSE'* had TS switches that were just as fried as mine.
So the switch goes bye bye (weight reduction!), and there'* manual-on headlights only.
By removing it, you also lose your daytime running lights.

It'* a Canadian thing. There'* a unit that is green that plugs in under your dash near the steering colum. If it'* burned out then you'll probably loose your high beams. The cost of the part is approximately $300 but I don't know if it'* available anymore. I picked one up at a wreckers years ago therefore I don't know if there'* anymore around.
Good luck
