Default Headlight washers and front grill question

How rare is the headlight washer option on my 1991 bonneville? Mine doesnt work it seems the whole thing has been removed.
On my front grill to the right of the pontiac symbol i have a black plastic piece that serves no purpose and i was wondering what it is.

Can you get us pics? I'm not aware of headlight washers being an option prior to 92. Is this possibly an add-on?

my 91 SSE washer option works great. my 94 on the other hand, i dunno, i think it needs a new motor. Try replacing the washer motor.

all SSE models 88-91 came standard with the headlamp washers. it was NOT an option. most dont work, if you live in a cold climate. the owners tend to put water in the tank, and it freezes and a large crack forms down teh side. trust me, i know this, i've gone through it twice! its a BITCH to take out the tank. its located under the batter in the left of the engine compartment. GOOD LUCK.

i used plastic filler and fixed the crack. none of my lines wer cracked.... but i know they are rreally hard to get to since they are in the bumper cover... make sure to take out the nozzels and clean them good. they tend to plug up. also make sure all the lines are connected tightly.

My 91 has 4 washers mounted in the front bumper. The tank for them is different from the tank for the windshield washers, and it cracked/broke years ago. It'* too much a pain to take out/repair, and frankly I like it better w/o the washers working. I figure if they were working they'd spray everytime you did your windshield, and they'd make a mess over your bumper and stuff. The windsheild is easy to clean, but you don't need to be cleaning your bumper too. And besides... I've got GTS BlackOuts over my headlights.

the headlamp washers only activate if you have your headlights on
