Default Freaky Shorts! ... not the kind you wear (+K&N question

tonight i went to get a couple of ham and cheese subs...mmmmmm , i tried to turn the key but the steering wheel really didnt want to unlock. i got the key turned on, the lights came on and then nothing. car wouldnt start... didnt even try.

the trunk popped open, by itself. then the trunk button clicked again, and again, maybe 2,3,4 times so i figored what the hell, i tried to sart the start again.
it stuttered for a sec. then started right up.

wassssup with that?

as i have said before in some posts, my car is possessed. it has very weird shorts in it and just when i think ive found it, i have another.. although the trunk popping open by itself is not new. and sometimes it does it all by itself when im not even around. it has even set off the alarm when the alrm wasnt even on. how talented is that?

sometimes i find it amusing but sometimes it bugs the crap out of me.

also, what are the real benefits to the k&n filter? is there any noticeable diff to make it worth the moola?

i installed one in my car and it made a slight increase. The only real reason I changed it was because where I live there is lots of dirt and sand blowing and I got tired of changing my filter every couple of months. Gas mileage is still about the same also. But I would say go ahead and change it unless you plan on going with a custom intake in the future.

I concur with Eglad...

Get it if you aren't planning on doing a real full out air intake. Can't hurt and it will increase your power and HP levels moderately.

I had considered throwing one in for the interim, but decided to save the $65 bucks and save it for the real deal

Susan, we need to get the demons out of your car before a filter. You may find out you need to abandon your car in a cornfield and claim the insurance.

Your demons are starting to make me think of something we've seen before. Can you check your firewall connections? Everywhere the wiring harnesses pass through the firewall. Not sure on your year, but there should be one on the driver'* side and the passengers side. Do this with the ignition on, engine NOT running. Shake, bend, twist, and push. (the wires, not you) and have someone in the car check for 'anomolies'.

These firewall connections are the most susceptible to damage, bar none. Virtually every system in the car sends a wire through there.

i will check the firewall and the wires.

i wasnt planning on spending that money on the filter anytime soon. just wondered that day because i had been to the store to buy my $4 worth of parts to fix my front end rattling/clunking and noticed the filters and noticed quite a few of these guys that have them. thats all.

i wondered if theres something going on in my steering wheel as well as other places. since ive had trouble with the ign/ steering wheel lock in the last week and trouble with the st wheel controls (for radio etc) working and not working at times. they have actually been functioning non stop for many weeks now, which is amazing.

its freezing out today so i dont thnk im going to do it today.
but i will do it asap.
thanks for the serious advice!
