Default Fixed my clunk in reverse.

Well i figured out what my clunk was, by accident really. The lower balljoint nut was backed out about a half inch! Boy was i lucky that didn't come off. I wonder how this happened, because the cotter key was still in there.

Clunk.. like.. only upon engagement? Or clunk like consistent with your movement in Reverse?

No it was everytime i pressed and released the brake i'd get a clunk. Like this: "Reverse, roll backwards, hit brakes, CLUNK, let go, give a little gas "CLUNK", hit brakes, "CLUNK". It took me forever to find it.

Was it only during reverse, or did it happen while going slow forward too?

Mine only clunks on cold-engagement. I know it is due to the motor mounts being all shot.. but I am kinda scared to raise the engine and replace them all . I'll wait until I know the car runs and drives.. and if I still have money I will do it.

Nope it never did it going forward once. Only in reverse. I thought it was motor mounts too but they all checked out "OK" at the best.

Now that I think about it, mine used to be just in reverse...

I've got a thread probably a year or so old about it somewhere...
