im gonna guess that your water pump got up and left, unless there is a hose that blew there, or got cut by the belt.

Feel the underside of the water pump. Dry? Feel where the pump meets the engine, can you tell if it is coming from the gasket?

if the engine is close to a 93 SE'*, then check the hose underneath the alternator. Mine came loose and was leaking coolant not to long ago.

im hoping its a water pump or gasket.
SOmething like that is a cheap fix..
becasue I think that the coolent is leaking on my sensors beneth it.. causing the Service engine soon light to come on.. thats what I think is happening

Water pump on a 3800 comes under "periodic maintanance". Is very easy to replace. Am a bit of a fanatic on getting the surface clean and just wet the gasket with white grease - no Permatex or blue death. Figure I'll be back in a few years.
