okay i was driving my dad'* 91 SSE and it has a lil over 120k on it. he had a trans put in it out of a 90 LE that had 45k miles on it... i was sitting in line at the gas station waiting for the person to move forward with my foot on the brake in gear, when he moved i pressed the gas and NOTHING! it wouldnt move. now this trans has been working and shifting perfectly for the last year... weve only put 10k miles on it so it now has 55k on it. what coudl have died?

Not totally sure....
My question is, how long did the transmission sit up before your dad got hold of it?
The worst thing for a trans next to heat is for it to be unused for a seriously long period of time..

I'd probably start with the normals. Check the fluid level. Look for a leaking hose if you are low.
JR..45K on a 90. That puppy sat somewhere for a LOOONNNG time.

he bought the car off a elderly women who lives 3 houses over from him. she was the original owner of the car. she had two cars, and she really only used this car 5-6 times a month to go to some of her dialysis treatments. electronic transmissions started in 92 on the bonneville

i've never seen so much rust as that was on that LE... 5 inch diameter around each side of the door handles, 4-5 inchs solid rust above the wheel wells... altho it was serviced at pontiac every 6 months for a oil change.. and the tranny fluid was flushed at 25k miles and 38k miles... the 38k mile flush was in Year 2000
