None of your suspension components feed back to the DIC or the ding ding thing. Start looking elsewhere.

Any other warnings or lights at all?

props to crash..
went for lunch today .. and it was dinging like nuts..
turned the brightness on the dash all the way up.. and sure enough..
it was quick but i definately say trunk warning.. man it was quick
i had to stare at the dash.. ( back road driving) to finally see it.

now for the question..
I had to adjust the latch to make it stop. ,, more info please

it never made a sound before.

i have a 88 sse with 274 pounds of music in my trunk.. my compressor never gives me a problem and my dic never beeps when i hit a bump either.. sounds like you got a electrical gremlin.. check for loose or chaffed wires that might be touching when you hit a bump... check wires behind the dic and dash..

unfortunatly, this is where my help has to stop

not because I don't want to, but because it happened about 6 years ago, and I don't remember exactly what I had to do.... to tell you the truth, I can't remember if I unplugged the latch closed switch, or actually physically adjusted either the latch on the trunk lid or the bar on the back of the trunk

maybe you could look at the latch system and see if there is any adjustment that can be made???

other then that, you will probably have to get some info from someone that owns one of the 87 - 91 cars.

I am glad to see that it helped you out, I was kind of going out on a limb with that one, but good to see it worked out.

:D

it would seem the easiest thing to do would be to disconnect the trunk closed switch

this would leave the DIC indicating it was always open correct.??
or with it disconnected the DIC would not illuminate (trunk) at all.

crash93ssei 06-13-2007 04:51 PM

not really sure on that one, I guess I would just disconnect it and check.... just make sure you don't disconnect the wire for the remote trunk open actuator, especially if you don't have a key for the trunk ;)

DarkShadow 06-13-2007 06:27 PM

disconnecting the sensor will cause the DIC to default to trunk closed so the alert will never show again....

thunderhand 06-13-2007 06:52 PM

thanks for the info guys..!

crash93ssei 06-13-2007 06:59 PM

on a side note.......

just be glad that you don't have the luggage rack on the trunk lid of your car..... talk about some SERIOUS rattle when the bass hits

unplugged sensor in trunk,,,
problem solved..
