Driver info center.

Ever since i put a speaker box in my trunk, ( big one ) whenever i go over an average size bump my DIC gives me the beep beep beep. it can get very annoying..

is it a warning the air ride compressor is kicking in.. or not kicking in..
is there a way to disable the dinging..

it doesnt happen on every bump , it has to be a fair size, not like potholes.
entering a parking lot , also if i hit a dip in the road on a highway same beep beep.

It might be a better idea to fix your suspension, that way you cure both problems.

this didnt start happening until i put extra weight in the trunk.
and I was told there is a compressor that adjusts the ride height.

this beep means my suspension is broken ??
it never made a sound before.

if you push down on the rear of your car, and get it bouncing, how many times does it keep bouncing after you quit touching it?

Just have to steal the thread, I just bought a 1990 sse, do I have Air ride suspension?
Or is it just some models that has Air Ride technology?

Yes, you have the Load Level with your FE2 suspension.. I believe the Load Level is Option Y98...

Back On topic ;)

the rear end stops bouncing amost immediately..
one to one and a half bounces..
I know what you are referring to though.. . my old gran torino's shocks went out
and the back end would bounce constantly..

is it for sure something about the air ride? or is that just a guess....

this might or might not help, but on my old 1989 SE, I had 2 15" subs in the trunk. after a few weeks, the subs moved so much air, that I would get a "ding ding ding" from the DIC telling me that the trunk was open, when in reality, it was the subs actually moving so much air that the DIC sometimes got a "trunk open" signal.

after a week or so of this, it got to the point where any little bump, even going down a driveway would set it off!!!

I had to adjust the latch to make it stop.

I only thought about this because you said a big speaker box was installed, so maybe this will help, maybe not ;) :D

great info.. something i will look into.
however, i just get the ding sound .. there is no visible indication on the DIC
I know it works because I have left the trunk open and got both a visual and sound notification.
and its just a guess for suspension from my part.

thats how mine started, it would go so quickly that the light barely had time to flash. I would hear a ding, then by the time I looked, the light was off.

It took a few weeks to find out for sure, for the light to actually stay on long enough to see it.
