Dash Removal
Hey all,
I've been working on installing some new electronics to Black Magic, but I need to get as much of the dash out as possible.
I've got the fake wood trim off, and I've taken out the lower black plastic shields, but I need more out inorder to place some items way back in there.
Has anyone really taken their dash apart before?
Anyone got any photos or advice?

It'* a royal pain to do. It'll take you about 2 hr to get the complete assembly out to get to the bare firewall. But Dames right, that'* exactly what you have to do. And be EXTREMELY CAREFULL because the main dash chasis is EXTREMLY FRAGILE!!!

Pull console? Why? You don't have to on our cars.
2hrs??? It took me 2 weeks!
It is held together with 9/32 bolts.. and they are EVERYWHERE. There are brackets that sit behind it, that you have to pull the dash out some to get to, there are some that are just never meant to be removed.. It is a HUGE undertaking. This is not for the novice. Hell, if I knew what I had ahead of me, I probably wouldn't have done it myself. An FSM is pretty much a necessity, because it has all the locations of the bolts. It sucks... I didn't take ONE pic of the dash removal :(. I kick myself everyday for that.

Don't worry about organizing the bolts too much. There are only three sizes. Huge, regular, and really small. The large ones go on the top of the dash and sink in fairly far, right by the defroster vent. Regular ones are everywhere, and the small ones.. I forgot where those went.
A little tip.. don't do it with the ignition on. I don't know how many fuses I blew because I shorted out some wires . My music prevails too much sometimes .

Yep! Sure did. Pulled it with the stereo going, only had 10 seconds of downtime from pulling HU to moving dash out of the way to plugging HU back in even before pulling the dash. You can say I am addicted to music. And yes, I know it wasn't the best, but I was aware of the risks.. and music kept me going in the times of frustration. Trust me.. you will want to throw something every 5 minutes with this job.
