do I know anyone with an 88-91 VinC 3800? no.
I've never tried giving it gas whilst starting. I guess I'll try that today.

Well.. things get weirder. giving it gas made it start allright. letting off the gas once revving past 2k, the engine dies. Start it back up by giving it gas and cranking. Still giving it a little gas, keeping a foot on the brake I shift into reverse, then back out of the parking space. Still with my foot on gas and on brake I put it in drive. I tool around the parking lot for about 30 seconds, then I pull back into a space, place it in park and take my foot of the gas, and lo and behold it doesn't stall. Turn it off, turn it back on.... starts right up with no need to gas it. wtf?

Bring it to florida... we'll get it right...

Could be a number of things...

The bad part about these computer controlled cars is that it can be a real PITA to figure out what direction to go in without a scantool...

Under certain situations, the EGR valve will be commanded to open... This will happen at the right temps, In gear, under load ... The EGR may have been stuck open... The IAC may have been stuck shut... It goes on and on... Let us know if you have any more problems...

For your EGR code

You either have a bad or sticking EGR

Bad wiring from the ECM to the EGR

Or a bad ECM

There is something going on with that circuit...

Next time that happens, unplug the EGR and see if the car smooths out... Really wish we could tool your car...

I was about to ask you where you were.... A shop would run between $40-$70 for the scan a few are a little cheaper... If there is a member near you, it would be easy to scan the car..
