If you are still having a problem with the E-brake, try spraying some lubricant around the ratchet area. This may free it up and make it work better.

I KNEW I was right the first time..... I took a look at another master cylinder from a Mazda and I see what you mean about the pin, something is wearing out inside.
I've tried lubing the brake assembly and it works for a bit but it just goes bad again. I don't know what I should try, it'* like the return spring isn't strong enough to lock the ratchet in.

Default e brake

dealers use carb spray on the e brake rachet. It degreases it and gets it working again.
