91 Bonneville Door Problems
I have a 1991 Bonneville, i am having problems with opening the door. the left rear door, will not open, the outside button to open it, pushes with no effort. i cant open the door from the inside of the car also. Recently, the front driver side door is having the same problem. Any suggestions on how to get the door open and to get the door working properly? It'* a great car, it'* got 150k on it, and still running strong, i would just like to correct the problems with the doors...Thanks......

You should go thru this Board , there is alot of info in how to fix that problem with your doors.. Basicly you have to get in the back seat and remove your door panel and usually there are some seized parts that need to be oiled and or reconnected.

or there is usually the quick and dirty soloution. hammer it into submission with an 8 pound sledge hammer, and then patch it up with duct tape, the handimans secreat weapon. this is only recommended as a last resort however, because it drastically relieves frustration

take your inner panel off..then hit your latch up..may be a b*tch to get at..then take your assembly apart ...spray it down with wd.40 and then lube everything up with ball bearing grease...works like a charm..used it and they havent seized for 5 months... make sure you play around with the latch for a while to get it nice and lubricated...then BAM! you got doors

i believe all of the interior door panel screws reside on the pannel.if anyone has a haynes manual, they show you where all of the screws are.

I just had this same problem w/both of my rear doors! I was able to muscle the pass side rear door--took everything off and I was able to lube all the pivot points on the rods--no biggie(I also lubed the locking mechanism itself under the door). Makes sure you get off all the old gummed up grease. The driver side rear was a little harder!
I couldn't get it opened for nothing, so I was able to pop off the plastic panel--the part that pushes the lock open or closed--and I forced open the rod from there.
just lube the hell out of everything! all pivot points--and it should be good for awhile.

Hmm--after all that I had to take apart the front pass side!! The door wouldn't lock now! I pushed on the metal bracket w/my finger so hard that the piece almost bent!
greased the **** out of that and now it'* good--'cept you can't push on the plastic lock tab on the inside by hand or it'll slip out of the nub from behind! But hitting the lock switch works great! -and it locks now!!
