Hi, there. I am new here. I have not found any thread just like mine so I figured I would open a new thread. I have a 1990 bonneville SE. 3.8 v6. The engine was working basically fine except it was misfiring when idle, so I started looking for the problem. I changed spare plugs and verfied cables. They seem ok. I verified compression. just the same. I was turning on and off the car to make the tests (nothing particularly wrong), but the last time I tried to turn it on, it just wouldn't. The engine is cranking but it wont start. Last week it did the same. I thought it could be gas since the tank was almos empty and the engine worked fine. This time, I put some more gas to no avail. It still wont start. I think I have access to a computer, although I do not know how to use it. Any ideas will be very welcome. tnx

First you need to test to see if you have spark. If you have spark then test your fuel pressure. Can you hear the fuel pump turn on when you turn the key?

Each time you turn the key to on you prime the cylinders with fuel. It'* possible your plugs are wet.

Could be a pre-existing condition that was there before you worked on the wires and plugs. You said "last week it did the same". Was that before you worked on your car. You may have two seperate issues.

Danthurs: I do have a spark. I do not hear the fuel pump turn on. Maybe it’* faulty. Should I check the lines to see if there’* fuel?

Yesterday I took off two spark plugs. One smelled like fuel the other didn’t

Well maybe I do have two separte issues.

I would test the fuel pressure. But if a plug is wet then it should be getting fuel. Try pushing the gas to the floor and hold it there, then crank. That'* how you clear a flooded engine.

I am sorry for the big delay. I have been running tests and the car just wont turn on. PLEASE HELP! I AM DESPERATE! I need to fix this. Its been three weeks. Please be patient.
I verified the fuel pump and its okay. Pressure goes up to 42 when cranking. Relay is fine. I already changed the module and the coil. Still cranking but not turning on. I hava a scanner, but the plug wont fit in the connector of my car. There is spark, there is fuel in the line. What else could it be. PLEASE HELP ME. thanks

Pull out the spark plugs, are they wet? If so, change them, your likely flooded. If you have pressure, and spark, and plugs are wet with fuel then it should start.

Do you mean once they get wet they have to be changed? Maybe the following question is dumb but, why cant I dry them up or wait until they do? It is true that some spark plugs were wet when I verified them, but that was two weeks ago. You mean once the engine gets flooded it remains flooded? The last time I cranked the car was over a week ago. Last night, I changed the coil and the module and there is steady spark, at least on the cable I tested. It'* bluer so looks good to me. What I did last night was crank the engine and pump the pedal as if the car had carb. I guess its reflexive. Should I try again while holding the pedal all the way down?

Did you check for spark? Any Codes? Maybe the Crank sensor.
