Allright then, all of the things I have done today seem to have cured the misfire, but the random problem of the car cranking away without starting still exists! Anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks for the PM -I looked at the pictures of your plugs in the general section. The gray color seems unusual. Mine have always been almost white with light brown near the tip. They all seem about the same color which is what I wanted to make sure of. I think the next thing you should do is check the fuel pressure with a gauge.

While not knowing the exact specs, these numbers seem right in line to me?

Once you turn the ignition off does it hold pressure?

I no longer have access to a gage, so I cannot check the pressure after turning off the key, I should have done it yesterday, damn. Either way, today I took my car ona 35 mile trip, 2/3 of which was interstate, and using 1.7 gallons, so thats about 20.5 mpg mixed, somethings still wrong. I had the crank problem appear once today only, BUT, the car is again getting shaky under light throttle.

OK new fuel pressure test today.
When the car starts, pressure jumps to 40, and then is at 35 while running.
Key off, the pressure falls immediately to 20 and then slowly falls from there.
I have already been told this is a pump problem
