Default '89 LN3 - Slight Tick

Ok, now i have been reading recently about how you will get a tick when you have low oil pressure...but my engine ALWAYS has great oil pressure..it never drops...thing is, when i am idling i can hear just a slight tick...it does sound like a rocker ticking..but maybe not. Some of you might remember when I posted a question about starting up cold and there being a VERY LOUD tick...well that was back when my idle at start up was like 2500 and that was fixed by replacing the TPS. Ok well, on that thread I was told it was most likely as cracked manifold...now I can believe that..I HAVE NO PROBLEM believeing that....but would a cracked exaust manifold be causing a tick at about 650-800 RPMs? It honestly sounds like a rocker IMO. I really don't know alot about rockers and all that other valve timing crap, but if a rocker wears out, what happens? Its probably nothing...i think my engine sounds fine, i just want to know if this could escalate into something...

I have a very slight tick, audible mostly when you're idling next to a wall. I'm not worrying about it...

Injector tick?!

Default tick

Could just be a dirty lifter but the best way to tell is try and isolate the sound with a mechanics stethascope.

yeah it is really only apparent when the car is next to a wall or under a roof or something, i dont think i am really gonna worry about it. But tell me, since I only know the bare basics about internal engine components, what the hell is a lifter, what does it do, how do i clean it and should i worry about a dirty lifter?

yeah i know

A lifter operates off of your camshaft. The lifter has a roller on the end and the cam pushes it up to push the pushrods, therefore moving the rockers and opening the valves.
