Ok. More speed bumps.

So I'm not gonna drop the tank. I'm not even worried about it right now. so I started tearing out the fuel lines and discovered that the return line is 5/16 not 3/8 like the feed line. I took out the feed line and already started putting that back together when I discovered that THE FITTINGS ARE COMPLETELY different! So I found out you have to go to the dealer to get that SPECIAL kinda flared fitting and all so UGH. I'm back to the idea of rubber line. All I have to to is cut out the rubber line to metal line fittings and just go straight through them with a rubber to rubber fitting. Its a more expensive route, but thats ok, if it fixes it, im happy.

DOOOOD, that sux. I just started reading this discussion for the heck of it. Being from the frozen, salt laden north, I FEEL YOUR PAIN. I had an 89 sse - went thru 2 or 3 fuel pumps in 318k miles. Please feel free to pm me if you ever need some help. I did a lot with that car over the years and may be able to help. Sorry I wasn't around when you first started this topic.

OK. NOW. I'm am pissed. NOOWWWWW IM TICKED OFF.

Just got her goin!!! rigged up a seriously nice rubber line setup with wire loom and all. looks SO outstanding. So I got her started let her warm up, and drove her out of the garage, I go real slow around the garage and come to the stop sign for the highway. I go to stop. OH JOY. My foot goes ALL the way to the floor. Car keeps going. I'm like OMG WTF. So I keep the ebrake on and back up and go back to the garage. Leakin brake fluid all the way. SO, I just got that all done under there, and ironically enough, first the car couldn't go and now it just can't stop. OHHH. This is not good. Not good at all.

John. thats easy to fix. i just got done like 10 min ago replacing Another section of my break line in the rear...

you have the flair tool already, go buy some break like and get er done

umm. well i just RETURNED the flaring tool because i was buying the rubber line. and plus, i have no way to get to the parts store real soon. but i will fix it when i have the time. i won't flare it, i'll just cut it and shape it and use compression fittings.

By the by... I prob should have warned ya that your brake lines were likely to go next. Same thing happened to me - first started to leak gas, then FOOMP, pedal to the floor.

Keep going. That car can still serve you well! You just live in a climate that cars don't like.

Just a question... since its probably running REALLY lean just to keep running...umm, shouldn't I be getting like a lean code of some kind? Just wondering why I'm not getting any codes out of this.

Checked my fuel pressure...I don't have a gauge, but I checked it and its certainly there while idling, not a heck of alot, probably nowhere near the 37 its supposed to have, but yeah, I would think it would stall then when i rev it, and it doesn't.

I checked the fpr for leakin fuel into the vac lines, nope. the fpr is good... umm. maybe an ignition problem? I'm really at a loss here and hoping maybe its NOT the fuel pump.
