Have you ever seen one? I have never seen an '87 SSE. If someone has one, or has seen one and has pics, I want to see one.

I've seen a few at a junkyard, actually... Outside - just your average SSE, maybe a few minor differences. Inside - it'* a lot more like my SE than any '88 - '91 SSE. It has a narrow centre console, no gain control & amp, the seats are a bit different too, as the controls that move the seats are on the seats themselves. The only thing that'* by the arm rest are the controls for the seat back... umm. can't really think of a lot more differences than that

No SSE in '87, There really wasn't supposed to be an SE. Just Base and LE.

Correct. And I just learned from experience yesterday in Seattle that the 87 is a TOTALLY different animal when compared to the 88-91. Odd stuff.

yep, I notice all the differences between the years. It is very apparent from the 87 compared to the 88, and there are a few subtle differences from the 88 to the 89. However I have not seen a 90 or 91 close enough up to tell the differences. I know the VIN3 engine made quite a few things different, but I too know the 87 is almost not comparable to the 88-91.

for tnhe SSE in 88-89:

the mirrors are on an angle, the grille has 3 lines, the seating buttons are different (buttons in the middle console and on the side seats), premium sound is 8 speakers, and some more things i have to remeber... look at repinS car

for the 90-91:

The mirrors are more flat, there are 2 lines on the grille, 12 way seating started and all buttons are on middle console, 10 speakers premium sound, gain switch. Look at Merlin 91/97 car

I have the 12 ways in my 89. Yes, the premium sound has 8 speakers, but I also have the Gain control. SSE14U24ME has a '91 SSE, and her car has the same grille as I do.

problem: Both Merlin'* and mine are 91'* :P

i have 2 lines on the grille (though its not an original)... 10 speakies, flatter (bigger glass??) mirrors, gain, blah blah.

i REMEBERed seeing someone with a black 88 or 89. I thought it was yours. oops
