If the needle moves, you know it'* not a bad ground. You need to check for wiring from the VSS -> I/P.

Not to get off topic, but my tranny finally went out on my 88 when it got 175 k on it, put it in the shop, no longer had the money to fix it so it sat there for a while, they fixed it without me saying to, so when i told them to give me my car back he wouldn't give me my tranny cuz the parts he put in are no longer new so he can't just take them out and say they're new again, but i found a tranny in a 1989 olds delta 88 that i was wondering if was compatable. I need to get more info on the engine and vin code for the car but when i do i'll relay that info. Just wondering if it'* possible for olds to pontiac swap. If it is, i'll start a new topic to get help on removal and swap, torque specs for bolts and all that.
P.*.: Heres hoping :?

Dunno about Georgia but in Florida there are some strict laws about what a shop can and cannot do without authorization, might want to contact the state pconsumer affairs division particularly if you did not sign anything.

That said, any 440T4 or 4T60 (NOT "E") transmission should be bolt and go though there were some differences in the vehicle speed sensor and the number of connectors on the gear switch.

Hardest part for me is that one backwards bolt on the bell housing that takes three feet of extensions.

Were several axle ratios available from 2.84-2.97-3.33 but any should work behind a "C" 3800.
