Perhaps this is a difference between NY and Ontario...anytime there is property damage, regardless if it is a homeowner or town/county/state property, the person responsible for the accident is responsible to pay for the damages. And yes, part of our insurance policy covers property damage up to a certain $$ amount per incident (depends upon your policy as to how much). I'm sure his insurance will cover the repairs to the hydrant and ditch.

Sue the dang county for putting a hydrant in a stupid place, where it could possibly cause bodily injury if struck, or maybe sue them for allowing wild deer to gain access to a public roadway! Go call what'* his name........Celino and Barnes and Asscociates!!!
$100,000 otta cover the cost of the hydrant and a new bonnie for everyone in the family!

Update....
Ins company came.... they saw.... they offered. Totaled the car due to cost of repair being more than the value of the car. Now, since he had minimum covered on it, he is able to get payment for the car only because a deer was involved. However, they told him if he took the insurance claim, he could not buy back the car.... ??? I said that was BS...but now I wonder if it has anything to do with the minimal coverage he has.
Also....I want to remove the custom interior door trim panels (have the stock ones) and the custom visors .... if you can help, post replies here: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...=793951#793951

Remove all the good stuff from ditchopper, then tell the insurance co. O.K. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet. A wrecked car doea a front lawn (or it'* owner) no good.
