Bonnesaurus gets a buddy.
Hi there.
Earlier this winter, my car got backed into and suffered this little problem:
Luckily, insurance gave me just over $700.00 to fix it up. I could have bought a used bumper and had it painted, but I went this route instead: A whole parts car. It wound up being cheaper to buy a whole car!
I bought it from pictures sent from the owner, and I mailed him license plates and a money order. Originally CAA agreed to go get it and bring it home to me, but rats, I had to drive up and meet the driver to show my CAA card. Company regulations.
So, today I drove to Hensall, ON. About 250km (155 miles) away from where I live.
A decent little road trip, smack dab in the middle of nowhere.
The pink indicates the route I took to get there, I took blue to get home. Both about the equal distance. Total round trip 535km (332 miles)
Not much scenery to show off. Every house towards Hensall appeared to be of the same vintage, with the same colour of brick. Likely all built during the same period, and bricks purchased in bulk.
This was the majority of the landscape. I was hopeful the Jeep didn't break down!
Finally I reached Hensall and saw the parts car in person. A 1992 SSEi, same colour as mine. No sunroof option, and it has the funky woodgrain interior. Mainly I was interested in the rear bumper, and the guy told me it was mint, I was not disappointed:
As an added bonus, I was hopeful for a mint passenger side fender. This one is pretty good, one small crack just behind the marker light:
As far as I know, it runs and has a new alternator. Oh well, for $250.00 I couldn't go wrong.
I don't know, the green Aerolites are growing on me, folks:
The seller has a pretty cool looking SE:
Here she is getting loaded up and hauled back to Welland:
Found some mixed CD'* in the car. Some Korn, Pop A Roach, Tool, nice mixtures.
The driver is bringing the car to my place tomorrow. Something about a possible milk run to Niagara and he may need to bring another car with mine. Bonnesaurus is excited about the new parts.
(Yeesch...)
(Oh look! In the background you can see the white '93SSEi I traded off even for my Jeep!)
Saw some funny things on the way home. It'* too bad I didn't make the trip next weekend, because this is going on at a local arena. I'm afraid to know what this is about:
Then I saw this on the highway. Not so "smart" now, is it?
I'll keep you updated once I find out whether or not this thing runs, and what other goodies I find. I'm excited about the warmer weather coming around so I can begin!
OH: Insurance cheque: $780.00
Car: $250.00
Gas: $50.00
Total spend: $300.00 and a rainy Saturday.
Cheers,
Adam

thought it was amusing and had to say something... good find tho... the rear bumper is nice... i need to get new reflectors and muffler tips for mine... theyre both broken

Not sure when the weather will cooperate so I can get at it, but if you're not in a hurry, I can fix you up.

I traded the white '93SSEi even for my '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The car needed a lot of work, but the Jeep needed nothing, so I did well.
