the radio light fix 00+
basic rundown of what you are gonna see
so your radio is missing bulbs....
after pulling off the dash, no screws,
you will see that the radio just pulls right out with 4 clups
start taking apart the radio by prying all the tabs round the face
and the front comes off except for the 2 wire connectors
they are removed with a needle nose pliers inside the unit
get the face off and it looks like this, remove the 5 small *** screws and it all comes apart
here is the back of the face buttons
and here is what your working on
i ordered these 3 bulbs from corvetteradios.com
99 to 04 Pontiac,Aztek,GranAm,Sunfire,Ponvan,Montana 3ea Delco Replacement Light Bulbs $20+ $2 *&H
and they sent me these :*
GM 95-02 10 Delco Display bulbs $20 $2 *&H
here was the difference i was looking at... and i said hell with it and put them in
solder then to the board
and put it back together
and back in the car
2 problems!
something happened when i had it apart.. notice the display screen.. there isnt full light across is anymore, also i lost my volume and tune rotary buttons light... thinking this has something to do with the wires on the faceplate being incorrect...
also, i only replaced the 3 white bulbs, not any of the orange LED'* that light the numbers... radio shack did not have them, and i am going to order online... so you see in the last pic that the bottom row works fine, but some of the numbers are not lit.
i also replaced the red theftlock LED with a blue one
when i get the orange LED'* in... i will take it apart again and see why the display is not right

My display screen no longer lights up fully either, it has the same dim spot in the middle as yours is showing. The dealer I got my car from said that they replaced the screen before I bought the car, and it only worked for about 3 months. I don't know how you would fix someting like that and it does'nt bother me enough to pay someone to fix it for me.

A display like that may suffer from cold solder joints being heated and cooled so much. The slight flexing of the pcb (board the lights are on) could have made the jont suffer worse and it merely needs to have the connections touched with a solder iron to reflow the solder.
