Question 98 GP axle issue

98 GP axle issue. GM web sites show part numbers 26045924 (rt axle) and 26055092 (Lf axle) as being 1999 and earlier. They also show 88965658 (Rt side axle) and 88965657 (Lf axle) being for 2000 and newer. When you try to enter the newer 8896... numbers for a 99 or older GP 3800 (non sc) GP you get "Not Compatible" on GM web sites. I called zzperformance and talked to Steve and he said all non SC axles fit from 97 to 2008. Most aftermarket stores show that axles from 97 to 2008 also work as well as A1Cardone new axles. If this is true, why does it come up as not compatible with GM delco sites?

Second issue: I replaced both axles with USA units from Bumper 2 Bumper and although they work, They are leaking grease out of the inner boot at the seal where the band is closest to the trans. There is no damage what so ever. I changed them again and again the same thing. Could there be a compressed length issue going on forcing greese out or trapped air in boot?
Any ideas? Thanks
