Default Hey, a water leak!

I took my car to the car wash. That really helped, but when I got in the car, there was a decent amount of soapy water on the floor.

Great, just what I needed.

Whatever, back to the water leak. Looks like it'* coming from above that

One of the screws holding that plastic runner in place was stuck, but I was able to pull the carpet up most of the way.

But it gets weirder. Look what was underneath.

Out it comes. Now, tell me, is this perfectly-round hole supposed to be there?

What about this round piece of black squishy stuff?

What about all of this larger slab of black squishy stuff?

Are water leaks fairly common on a GP? If so, where do I plug things up and with what?

I recall mine used to leak on the pass side from the cowl. What side of the car is that on? I haven't seen one leak like that before.

I'm wondering if you have a bad door seal somewhere on that side.

It looks like someone might have drilled that perfect hole in the corner to drain off water. But all that black squishy crap, it doesn't look OEM.

Has anybody owned the car before you?
If so it looks to me like somebody noticed the floorboard getting wet, and searched for the leak, unable to find it, so they drilled the hole, and added that grate thingy to keep the carpet elevated/dry.

That black goo looks like it was used to repair a rusty area that was leaking, if it is where the upper part of the wheel-well is, then I am guessing the tires kicking water up in there somehow started rusting out the wheel-well, wait...... is that big area with goo in the trunk, or the floorboard?

Question, does your trunk close all the way down?
I ask because my Park Ave has a pull down motor, it went bad before and let the trunk stay about a half inch more open then it should have been, that let water get in my trunk, which worked its way to my rear floorboards.

If you don't have the auto pull down trunk, then it is most likely coming from one of the cowls as mentioned.
I am sure somebody that has the info on inspecting/fixing that will post a link soon.

Yeah, at least two owners. I'll ask the last guy if he did anything. There wasn't any water near that hole, though, it was all stuck on the other side of that white wall of glue.

That is under the passenger-side carpet. I thoroughly inspected the wheel wells before I bought this and didn't find any holes, patches, or rust.

Based on where I'm seeing water drip down (above that big batch of wires), it makes me wonder if there'* a clogged drain.

The trunk has a release button, but I have to lift it myself. It'* surprisingly difficult to lift compared to the Bonneville'* trunk lid, but that doesn't really concern me.
