He came by and hooked up the scanner. First he took the MAF plug out and it started but then died like it was doing. He then checked the Idle Control Valve with the scanner and couldn't do what he wanted to, so he took the Idle Control Valve screws out and had me start it and it blew the valve out. He hit it with the screwdriver and did something to it and said it was built up with carbon inside where it goes. He put the valve back in and screwed in down and started it and was able to use the scanner to make that piece work so the car will run. I'm heading over to buy a new ICV and some throttle body cleaner and going to his house to take it apart to get all the carbon out and put the new valve on. Then heading to pick up the hard vacuum lines from the dealership that should be in by now so I can put those on as well. Then hopefully the car will run and also hopefully it will keep starting after cleaning the battery post if that'* all that'* it. I did have one plug that is coming off a small group of wires from under the fuse box above the battery that is just hanging there and there isn't anything close by that it would plug into. I wonder if its a extra plug when they put the Auto Start on the car maybe. He said it was a factory plug and he will look at it when I get to his house. I want to thank all of you for all your great advice and all the quick reply'* you have given me thru out all of this.

I also noticed last night when I took the battery out that when I took the coolant backup container off that it didn't have to much in it.Ive been checking it for weeks prior to yesterday every 3 days or so and it was filled to the line. I will keep you in touch after my cousin gets here and gets the codes and the fuel pressure..
I thought they may have the single FSM, but I see all they seem to have right now is the set of 3 FSM'*, those are a bit pricey, every now and then I'd do a search and see if they have Vol 1 and 2 of 3 for a decent price, I don't think you'd really need 3, as it covers Transmission, Body, and Accessories.
You could just stick with the Haynes, and come here if you need any other help, I am sure somebody around here should have 2001 FSM'*, or at least an AllData subscription that would allow them to help you better, as far as with getting electrical diagrams and whatnot.

Hopefully the low coolant is not a failing LIM Gasket letting coolant into the intake, if you were able to get the parts, and had help from us, do you think your cousin would be able to help you if you decide to tackle the LIM Gasket job?
I ask because while it is not extremely hard to do, it will be a lot of work for one person that has not done the job before.

I did not think the IAC would be the culprit, but it can cause stalls at low idle on occasion, usually it will cause really high idling, it sounds like it may have been gummed up by carbon deposits .

You said "and was able to use the scanner to make that piece work so the car will run."
Are you saying he used his scanner to command the IAC?

You say you are going to get some throttle body cleaner, are you going to spray it in the IAC bore with the throttle body on the car, or are you going to remove the throttle body and clean it all out?
Removing it would not be a bad idea as then you could clean the butterfly valve, and the whole throttle body out, but it should not be necessary, as you can clean out the bore pretty well with the the throttle body still on the car, if you want to clean the whole throttle body I'd remove it, if you remove it you'* need to replace the throttle body gasket, then you may encounter problems where the throttle body coolant ports are, I tried to remove my TB gasket and the plastic of the upper intake that holds the gasket in place broke off from what I believe was from the coolant and heat softening up the plastic over time.
I'd wait till you decide to tackle the UIM/LIM job, then you could clean the throttle body, and if necessary only replace the upper intake, a lot of times you can reuse the upper intake as ling as you replace the UIM Gasket, but in my case I had to replace it, so I went with a Dorman one that was said to have newly designed reinforced baffles.

Back to the IAC, you could clean it, and if it was from carbon build up it should be fine to reuse, I'd only replace it if it continues to not work after cleaned.
Here is a helpful thread on cleaning the IAC.

As for the plug dangling from the fuse box area, I am not sure what that could be, if you could get a picture if it that may help.

Good luck with the IAC, I hope to hear it is running nicely once again when you are done!

I had a very simular problem with a 91 camry a few years back. Turned out to be a loose battery cable

Yeah, I am thinking the loose battery cable was his first issue, and then the IAC was a separate issue, hopefully he has both issues fixed by now.

Its running great today. He took the throttle body off and the sprayed it out and scraped all the corners so it looks almost brand new after 4 cans of throttle body cleaner and a toothbrush. Reattached the MAF sensor and put the new throttle body gasket on and screwed it all back together. H said that when I get some more cash that he will change that black plastic thing that sits on top and the kit will have the intake gaskets to change as well. He pointed out how hot the TB Cleaner got around a tube that was coming up from the bottom inside that black plastic dome shape thing that is right behind the TB assembly after he took it off to clean. I'm in a hurry to get to work so hopefully you understand how I worded this. Also added Sea Foam to the gas tank before throwing $45.00 of fuel in it..

Thanks for the update, was waiting to hear how it went.
Glad to hear it is now running well, also good to know he'll help you with the UIM/LIM when you get the money, it will be money well spent!
Like I mentioned before, you don't have to replace the upper intake (black plastic intake) unless the ports around the EGR port for the upper intake are warped, also inspect the coolant ports on the intake, usually it is just the gasket part of it that fails.
If the UIM is still good you can soak it in a good de-greaser and reuse it, the lower intake manifold gasket will need to be replaced though, the LIM Kit is not too expensive.
When the time comes to do those jobs make a thread, and I'll help you be sure to get all the right parts, and answer any questions you may have.

You mean the piece for the PCV Vlave/Map Sensor?
Or the IAC?
