Interesting. At what point was the upgrade available? I believe the last time mine was replaced was in either 2003, or 2004, and the truck was parked in 2005. It maybe had a few thousand miles since the injectors were replaced.
I had changed the oil just before it was parked, and the guy that let me use his shop for the oil change call the following morning to say the whole shop smelled of gas, and he traced the smell to the drain oil from the Suburban.
What I'm wondering is, am I going to need the "spider" replaced again, or do I already have the latest version?

I plan on selling the truck this summer when I return to Colorado, but I can't sell it with fuel leaking so much that it'* draining into the crankcase.

the oem one was leaky, stuck open some times, when getting old the dirt messed the efficency fast, you cant let it sit, etc...

this is the conversion to mpi injectors like all the cars have except it still sits in the intake man.

Thanks for the link.

From what can be seen in the pictures, it does appear as if the plastic injectors have been retro fitted with metal injectors. I'm sure the replacement part that was installed in my truck still had the plastic injectors.

I find it a little hard to believe that the plastic injector, or the plastic injector assembly itself for that matter, ever made it into production. I mean, what could have they been thinking when they installed such a cheap part into truck? Maybe a GEO Metro, but a Suburban?

Anyway, I suppose we should return this thread back to the problem at hand, and I apologize for the brief hijacking of the thread, it was totally unintentional.

Danthurs,i chased a weird starting/not starting problem with a venture, ended up being a wire that went from the crank sensor to the PCM. You know the whole 3X-24X stuff....i think it was a red wire 24X signal (from memory, maybe wrong). Make sure it has continuity from sensor to comp.

Never found the problem. Mine is more like the ignition sticks and the starter stays engaged. Helps when I see it and not listen to what my wife tells me.

Had one in the shop today with the same issue. Found the electronic throttle plate was sticking from carbon build-up. Simple induction service fixed the problem.

fyi only the 2500 and 3500 had it in 99 and 1500 had the 4.8 or 5.3. Also the 4.3 has the same assembly but only 6 popetts which was used from 1992 to 2009. in the blazers 92 to 05 and express vans 92 to 09.
