Tstat to disaster...
so i got a 180 tstat, unfortunately they didnt have the grommet or gasket in stock, but being the impatient perosn i am i couldnt wait for them to come in and i started working on it, to get to the rear bolt i had to move that vaccum line thats in the way, unfortunately the 9 year old rubber connectors were dry corroded and a coupler desintegrated, now i had alreayd been planning on going back over to pepboys to pick up the grommet and gasket so i had reattached the thermostat housing, i just made it as tight as i could and hope dit owuldnt leak, and while i was doing that i tightened more than my socket wrench could handle and the big square to little square adapter snapped, good tihng i had a spare, so with the open line i couldnt driv emy car so i got a ride over to pep boys got the gasket grommet, and a coupler, apparently i tighten the thermostat bolts more than i could loosen and more than the socket bit could handle because it distorted and streched then snapped loose, those bolts were not going anywhere for anything, i then saw a loose hose hanging down, i was tihnking "dammit not again" i looked to where it had been connected, and the tip had snapped right off when the wrench hit it and it was stuck inside the hose, i couldnt unbolt the piece to get a replacement because my 10mm socket bit is now more like an 11.5, so i did what i do best, i ghetto rigged... lets just say that everything seems to working and i hope it stays that way, the final results:
180 tstat installed
i dont tihnk the tstat housing is ever coming off again, those bolts are about as tight as welding
ive got an unused gasket and grommet to return
my engine now has a higher amount of sticky tack and electrical tape (dont worry as soon as i can get that piece off i will replace it)
