Bad tuning is why. With the stealth, I tune by exhaust gas temp... It is something that is controlable. Run lean, you burn HOT but make more power. Run rich, you run cooler with less power. Either way, run an enginer at WOT for a long period of time, and those manifolds will get hot no matter what.
As for a turbo kit on a car... It all depends. If you are good under the hood, a bolt on kit from a reasonable dealer will be cake. It SHOULD come with a computer and fuel system to back it up, and it won't be a problem. if you want to do like that GTP guy did with the turbo, you better know your stuff. When adding boost, you have to accomidate with fuel (most of the time).

Lingenfelter has bad tuning? They are one of the premier corvette aftermarket tuners, etc. They've taken c5s to HUGE power... That engine is just a monster and at WOT for that long, it probably didn't like it.
