Intense Shift Kit installed
Joined the Illinois Grand Prix Club recently looking for local installers and meet some really nice people there. I nice guy name GTPHale offered to install my Intense shift kit for $30 bucks. He was a very nice guy who knows his stuff and is running 12'* in his GTP. I think he'* going to be my new local installer, going to do some TOG headers for me soon. He also does rockers and cams ect. haven't decided which I want yet but there'* still time for those decisions, want to get ZZP stage 2 Intercooler at the same time as well. more on this stuff later.
Back to the Intense Shift kit. Had it on couple of days now on my 01 SSEi and I LIKE IT!!!. Nice and firm shifts at WOT. Definitly a difference, when cruising around shifts nice and crisp, not uncomortable at all. At WOT 1-2 shift it'* quite quick and firm and creates some tourque steer too. Feels much sportier riding around. Definite 2 Thumbs up to this product.
The install was very easy and straight forward with good detailed directions, I just have never done anything like this and don't want to F-up my own car . I watched Hale do everything and it was all nuts and bolts job basicly. Pretty easy, but It was well worth the 30 bucks to pick the mans brain for a while install only took 45 min but we BS'ed for 3 hrs. I defintly could of done it myself after seeing this installed.
He'* done many shift kits before and this was his first Intense kit install and he said it was the niceist kit he'* done yet. He gave props to intense on this kit.
Silver bullet- We bought our shift kits around the same time and yours isn't installed yet. You won't regret it, what are you waiting for?

That'* great to hear.
I wish I could install my kit right now. :(
At least the Line Pressure adjustment module I'm using now sharpens up the shift. I have it set well below medium because I don't like the harshness of the shifts at low throttle input. It doesn't vary the intensity of the shift with relation to throttle input. In fact it keeps the pressure high when downshifting too which is very bad.
For personal reasons it will have to wait a month or two.
Now that the rains have started on the wet west coast, we won't driving her too much....and pretty soon the salt!
The one thing I notice about firm shifting with this driveline setup is the compliance of the whole system. You have seen how much your engine rocks on its mounts. Quite a bit of movement there. So I feel the harseness of the firmer shifting but it doesn't seem to translate to the tires because it is absorbed in those massive engine mounts.
Does it feel similar to you? I feel the torque steer now, that kind of feel is not what I mean. I mean, the feel where the tires meet the road and in the seat of your pants.

This kit DOES vary the intensity of the shift with relation to throttle input. light gas, light shfit, Floored aka WOT =nice firm shift. I like it alot. Makes my SSEi feel more sportier when cruising around.
Not sure about what you mean about the TQ steer. I now feel the wheel jump some when it shifts 1-2 at WOT, never did that before. I have never seen my motor rock yet but I know what you are talking about, just haven't looked at it yet.
Bummer you have to wait for your install, you'll be happy when it'* on.
As for setting, the directions only say there'* one way for the HD tranny, I followed the directions. There was an extra set of bigger spacers in the kit which could make it shift harder, just like the Thrasher kit, but I just had him put the recommended spacers in. Couldn't be happier with it.

Thanks Can't wait untill I get some serious performance mods. Headers next, than IC and rockers/cam and DHP. Throw in a LSD in there some where in between.
Then it will be a beast.
Can someone say SLEEPER?
