Default Revamping canister purge system

Ok, here is yet another miniproject I have going on. I have yanked out the factory charcoal canister and gave it the ole' heave-ho, or however you say it, in order to make room for my own design FWI.

Emissions purists, take heart. I want to keep a purge system that FUNCTIONS the same, but due to all the rework I am doing in the engine bay, it MUST be compact. First, some verbal visualization. The factory evap line runs the entire length of the passenger side of the vehicle, cuts across under the radiator, back up the driver side, and finally into the charcoal canister.

What I WANT to do is relocate the purge solenoid close to the engine, somewhere on the passenger side, cutting the travel of the evap line in half. What I NEED is a small in-line filter that I can mount near the passenger framerail. Does anybody know what kind of filter I can put there?

EDIT: I should mention that I have shifted alot around on the driver side in order to make my FWI design work. I went with the non-headlamp washer bottle, and moved the ELC pump as far forward as possible. This makes putting the EVAP canister in that location impossible for me.

Relocate the stock canister like I did. Right behind the headlight, higher up than it was.

Why not just shorten the lines and put it on the passenger side??

That'* what I want to do. But I need to use a filter that is compact enough to allow the relocation.

Which brings me to what I hope is a viable question: What does the vapor canister filter out anyways? I was thinking of using an aquarium charcoal filter which I think would work, but I want other brainstormers to chime in on that idea.
