The original goal for the 4.9 conversions was for the old w Body cars. There was no way to get the Chevy into the old w body. That said there is more room in the H body. But from basic measurements there would be some cutting involved. Now with the 4.6 l you have the capability of crazy hp and you can drop it into all H bodies from 1992-99 and all G bodies. I prefer the 4.6l to the bowtie because it is a plug and play if set up right and the hp gain is just as easy. 400hp with ease. That means it can be made smogable. Now with a little more help I am sure the 4.6 can be stroked to produce the 500hp without a turbo or sc. the ford 4.6l engines are being built to put out 1200hp with single sc’*, stroking, and a few other goodies. I also want to look into the 4.9 L being stroked because it is a pushrod engine and has that beautiful lumpy cam sound. With fuel injection no stalling. Just think an engine lighter than the 4.6 bolted up to a 4t60-e putting out 500hp. ( as a side note the 4t60-e can be made to handle much more hp and tourue but it will require more R&D and that thing called money) Still a dream but that is mostly due to capital. I have my eye on a old 1992 Bonneville that had an engine fire and I’m going to try and pick it up for next to nothing and that will be the car I’m going to drop the 5.0 in. For my 1995 I will try out the 4.6l. The main issue for any mods is the Cady computer. My other project is solving the caddy computer issue so Cadillacs can run these serios #*. I know there is one guy trying as we speak, but I know things that he doesn’t and I am hoping I can catch up financially before he figures it out. LOL. The fun part is the smogability. I like to make sure these things can smog too. You can put a 4.9 into an h body or w body or even c body up to 1995. After that they can’t be done in California. Now the 4.6 can be swapped and smogged in cali from 1995 up easy. I can build one for anyone who has the cash but other than that you will have to wait till I drop the cash and do it myself.
Now if you don’t live in cali and don’t have restrictions you can get 450-600 hp out of a 3.8l and that is some nice numbers. The issue with the 3.8 in my mind is the engine size and feel. The sound and feel you get out of an eight is just way too awesome to pass up. Just cant get that out of a 6. The hp is secondary in my book because the hp capability is in both engines. Cost wise they are mostly equal once you go to 300hp.
After that the 6 gets much more expensive to mod.

Ok I got all excited and started looking into heads and stroker options for our cars. I think Angry Duck was going to do something like this. I was thinking of just offering a Gn swap kit so we could use the Grand National block and maybe heads. I have a custom price on a racing spec stroker cam for $2300.00. LOL too steep for this crowd. Anyway ill let you know how it goes. I know I can get us custom heads and I know a stroker can be done I just want to make it reasonable so it can be worth buying. Ill bug Hector and see what he may have planned.
