A light porting of a M62 promotes SII whooping power
No races, so sorry to disappoint you all, but last night I pulled the SC off my 95 to replace the noisy coupler. I ended up pulling the whole SC apart, cleaning the inside of the rotors department, cleaned the inlet of a lot of crud, took some 120 grit sand paper, then some 300 grit sand paper to the inlet....she'* not perfect (fingers can only get in 3-4, maybe 5 inches), but she'* definitely flowing more air smoothly.
Then I did the same to the TB. I only used 300 grit on here... again, a quick job, but after a bit it started to have an almost mirror finish.
Then I tackled the SC outlet.
Basically took the dremel and a diamond bit and smoothed the tiny 'V' and the '0'*. Again, not perfect, but a big improvement over the rough casting from the factory.
THEN I PUT THE SC GASKET IN SO AS NOT TO BLOCK THE SC OUTLET---> TO LIM INLET.
After it was done I took it for a spin. It idled high (right around 2k), but I thought maybe I'd left too much TB cleaner in the LIM as the SES light came on, but about 3 minutes of running the SES turned off, but the idle continued.
As for runability, the throttle is alot more responsive, the idle was a bit loapy, but the difference was in driving the car.
1st gear remained about the same power wise.
2nd gear definitely is smoother and a little more power, but WOAH, the real gain I noticed came after the shift into 3rd.
3rd gear is INSANE compared to before. I swear it feels like another 30-40 HP in 3rd gear. It is SOOO much more smooth (the engine really feels as smooth as a Series II L67 now) and the pull is crazy.
I had forgot the camera in my parents garage and this morning when I returned I found I'd left it on and the batteries are dead. But I have them in the charger now and later this afternoon I'll go get some vids.
All-in-all I wish I'd done this sooner. It was actually pretty damn simple now that I've pulled 4 SC'* in the past month and this is the 2 SC I've done light porting too (Travis got more porting and a better job).
I really can't wait to get the ported LIM and ported GEN III on my 99 with the other mods... I can hardly imagine. :o Then in the spring, to go from the ported GEN III setup to the ported GEN V.........
Here are a couple pics... it was late and I didn't want to get done @ 5.30 AM again. (I ended up putting the last tool away @ 12:10 AM, so not too bad IMO, but I didn't remove or do anything to the LIM except clean a bit of the residue out of the bottom of it).

Found my high idle culprit... missed one vacuum line when I reconnected them last night. Idle is now around 1000 rpm, but is still a little rough. :?: Not sure, but I wonder if it had anthing to do with taking the caps off the tip of the injectors as there were 3 cracked (saw 2 when I first pulled the rail with injectors, then I saw a 3rd when I was putting the new O-rings on) so I took all the caps off.
I'll run it like this for the rest of the week, but next weekend I may put the Series II injectors in if they'll fit.

F14, you should be running a non-ported, non-polished Gen2 M62 with a Gen3 pulley and not pushing it. You don't have the bottom end or trans to support it. This is the same advice I'm giving two other members. Both based on L27'*.

It looks like Ol' Blue is running that walled intake...if you are going to work on that lower, get one from a 92-93 as those are non-walled and should provide a bit more flow than what you got in there now.
On a side note, I noticed that when Boosty ported my intake, the injector spray path opened up too...instead of some of the spray hitting the upper portion of the intake port, it now should not be affected going into the cylinder head. I am not sure how much this will affect power or idle, but I am sure it has to be for the better

it looks like you cleaned the casting on the outlet of the sc to a straight edge and 90 degree turn for the air?
On the inlet side..I'd suggest getting a dremel flexible shaft and flapwheels. Opening and cleaning the first few inches will only help so much with the next restriction being where you could not reach.
On your S2 whooping comment.. lol My S2 beat your S1 to a porting.
